After over 20 years in prison, he was released and was able to be the first elected President in post apartheid South Africa. This list is a joke.. Usain Bolt is on this list but Malcolm X isn't? Malcolm X is as important as Mlk jr. Just b/c he taught eye for an eye doesn't make him a militant. Eye for an eye is common sense. He never was responsible for killing ne1. He just don't get as much credit b/c whites love mlk teaching ppl to turn the other cheek to brutality. While X taught to not do harm to any1 but defend yourself against violence.

Toussaint L'ouverture needs to be on here!!! Also why the strong bias towards Americans or English speakers? I personally would also add Aime Cesaire and a host of other writes, intellectuals and poets.
Oh and also Shaka Zulu. ;) he's awesome!

My beautiful black FAM, The list is OK, recognizing these wonderful individuals, that has contributed to so much of our powerful DNA !!! However we must not continue to let other nationality define who goes where on this list or any list,We become angry , when we notice most list leave out such awesome key factors like( Hank Aron, who broke babe ruths all times record!!!) However , we have brains and intelligence, let's stop getting angry, and do something about it, We are the ones that's black, it's our history, MAKE OUR OWN LIST. LOVE.
